Open-Concept Kitchen Remodel with Structural & Electrical Upgrades – Northeast Ohio

This full kitchen remodel transformed a closed-off layout into a seamless open-concept design connecting the kitchen, living room, and dining room. The project included the removal of a load-bearing wall, requiring structural modifications to truss headers, beam pockets, king studs, and framing to create a clean, continuous ceiling.

All mechanical systems were updated to accommodate the new layout, including bringing the heating, plumbing, and electrical systems up to current code. New flooring was installed across multiple rooms and extended into closets for a consistent, unified look throughout the home.

The kitchen received new cabinets with a custom layout designed for both functionality and flow. A custom-built MDF island with a laminate countertop was constructed, featuring an overhang for seating, a drop-in oven, and a built-in cooktop for everyday cooking and baking. Multiple electrical outlets were added to the island, along with complete rewiring to support new appliances and lighting.

Additional finish work included bead-board detailing, custom carpentry, trim work around the island, baseboard installation, and barn-style bracing to properly support the countertop and appliance weight. A floor register was integrated into the island for proper airflow.

Lighting upgrades included new recessed lighting above the sink, multiple new fixtures throughout the space, pendant lighting, and a globe lighting system over the island, all professionally wired and installed. Walls and ceilings were re-mudded and sanded for a smooth finish, then painted in updated colors.

The project concluded with the installation of new appliances, including a refrigerator and dishwasher. The result is a modern, open-concept kitchen designed for comfort, functionality, and long-term performance.
