Professional Deck Construction in Northeast Ohio
This job required extensive amounts of planning and preparation, totaling over 6 months, just to make sure nothing would go wrong on this deck. A lot of changes were made, due to new ideas constantly being brought to light by both parties.
The goal in mind was to expand the smaller, upper-deck for entertainment and to allow easy access to a larger lower deck we were to add in. We removed deck boards and we added onto the structure of the existing deck, before digging the holes for the rest of the deck posts.
This customer was adamant on having cedar boards, which is hard to work with in Ohio, due to weather conditions because cedar does not come treated. You could run the risk of having boards peeling up, leaves staining the deck boards, and many other variables that we had to bring to their attention.
We initially started planning in August of 2023, but we decided we would have to plan for a 2 week stretch of nice weather. We planned for the summer time and set a date in June 2024. Turns out, it couldn’t have went better, even if we wanted it to.
For the handrail of this deck, the customer decided on a very rare vertical hand rail system. Along with that, all cedar perimeter deck boards and stair treads were custom routered (to match the radius of the cedar boards).
Our favorite part of this job was the detailed planning and the opportunity to become more well-rounded contractors. At times, our jobs can feel very repetitive, until we stumble upon a gem like this!
