Elevated Deck Construction in Northeast Ohio | Custom Hillside Cabin Build

Building on a hillside isn’t standard—and this project proves why experience matters.

For this Northeast Ohio cabin, we constructed a fully elevated, second-story deck positioned over a steep drop-off, requiring precise planning, structural integrity, and safe installation methods from start to finish.

Custom Elevated Deck Built for Challenging Terrain

This wasn’t a typical backyard deck. The structure sits high above a sloped hillside, requiring:

  • Careful framing and load support

  • Ladder-based construction due to elevation

  • Reinforced deck stability for long-term durability

  • Strategic positioning to maximize views and usability

Every element was built to handle both the environment and the elevation safely.

Pressure-Treated Lumber & Long-Term Protection

The entire deck was constructed using pressure-treated lumber and sealed for durability against:

  • Moisture

  • Seasonal temperature swings

  • Long-term exposure in wooded conditions

This ensures the structure holds up in Northeast Ohio’s changing climate.

Safety-Focused Design with Extended Guard Rails

Due to the height and drop-off, we installed higher-than-standard guard rails to increase safety without sacrificing the open feel of the deck.

The result:

  • Safer perimeter for everyday use

  • Clean, consistent visual lines

  • Code-conscious construction adapted to the environment

Built-In Ambience with Functional Lighting

Each post was fitted with tiki torches, adding:

  • Ambient lighting for nighttime use

  • Natural bug control in a wooded setting

  • A distinct cabin-style atmosphere that fits the location

Built by DLR Construction

Projects like this require more than basic framing—they demand adaptability, planning, and execution under less-than-ideal conditions.

From working on ladders to managing elevation challenges, this deck was built with precision every step of the way.
